Midway through the March 20 Bon Jovi concert at North Little Rock’s Verizon Arena, our thoughts turned to Michael Marion, the venue’s general manager.
Verizon personnel were trailing Jon Bon Jovi as the band’s namesake frontman sang and strolled his way across the top of the wall separating sections 107-109 in the lower bowl from the floor seating.
During the wall walk, the security boys and Jon engaged in a sort of patty cake. They tried to keep a gentle hold on pant legs to aid his balance, and the Jersey boy gently pushed away their unwanted aid.
Somewhere in the raucous atmosphere, we detected a heavenly plea from Marion winging its way skyward.
“Anytime anyone is doing anything like that you think please (don’t fall),” Marion said. “It is a nervous maker.”
He confessed to being especially on edge when Katy Perry took flight seated and performing atop a mockup of Saturn during her Jan. 12 show at Verizon.
Marion admits to attempted telepathic communication with the pop star as she floated without a safety harness above the crowd: “Katy, Please. Don’t. Move.”
Though not filmed at Verizon Arena, the clip below shows Katy Perry drawing the same gasps from crowd members (and insurance adjusters) by riding dangerously high on a miniature version of the planet Saturn.
