Real gross domestic product grew in 47 states and the District of Columbia in 2017, averaging 2.1 percent nationally, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The percent change in real GDP ranged from an increase of 4.4 percent in Washington to a decline of 0.2 percent in Louisiana. Arkansas experienced a 1.1 percent increase, ranking the state at 36th.
For the fourth quarter of 2017, real GDP also rose in 47 states and the District of Columbia, with the percentage ranging from a 5.2 percent increase in Texas to a decline of 1.3 percent in North Dakota. It averaged 2.7 percent nationally. Arkansas saw real GDP increase 2.5 percent in fourth-quarter 2017 compared with the third quarter, ranking it 26th among the states.
