1 min read

Arkansas State University has hired David Ray as the new vice rector for its academic campus in Queretaro, Mexico, effective Jan. 1.

He will succeed Brad Rawlins, the inaugural vice rector, who is returning to the school’s main campus in Jonesboro as a professor of communication after taking the spring 2019 semester as a sabbatical. He will also serve as special assistant to the provost during that time; his duties will include being a  liaison between the Jonesboro and Queretaro campuses.

Ray will begin transitioning into his new role on Nov. 1.

A graduate of Yale with a Ph.D. from Stanford, Ray most recently served as the dean of the Joe C. & Carole Kerr McClendon Honors College at the University of Oklahoma. He retired from OU in 2017 and is now a resident of Mexico.

Ray served on the faculties of Georgia Tech and Boston College prior to joining OU’s department of political science in 1992. His writings have been published in American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Inter-American Studies & World Affairs and more.
