Ronza Rolls With Changes At RP Power

1 min read

John Ronza helped grow RP Power into a multi-state operation.

Now that he’s sole owner, he plans to continue to broaden the horizons of the critical power needs provider.

With partner and co-founder Phillip Pate stepping away, Ronza wants to further grow the company that began as a three-person operation in 1998 and now has locations in in Tennessee and Oklahoma as well as Arkansas.

“We have expansion plans into other states. … There’s no question,” Ronza said.

RP Power is headquartered in Little Rock with branches in Springdale, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Memphis.

As sole owner, Ronza now looks at RP Power as a family operation.

“I have my son and son-in-law in the business, so it’s really become a family business, which has been a dream of mine for a long time.”

As an emergency power provider that sells standby generators, deals parts and service, RP Power has had to keep up with changes in technology, regulations and consumer demands, Ronza said.

“As far as our products are concerned, obviously they have become much more digital and remote communications with our devices have become much more important,” Ronza said.

“From our customer perspective the need for emergency power has exploded.”

Code stipulations require certain facilities, like hospitals or wastewater treatment plants, to keep standby generators, Ronza said. But whether required or not, businesses see the value of continuing to operate during outages simply so they can continue to make money.

“I call that revenue protection,” Ronza said.
