1 min read

Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale announced Thursday three grants totaling $171,500 to OneEgg, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Cordova, Tennessee, that delivers eggs to children in need.

The first project aims to increase the capacity of local farmers in Nepal to supply eggs to 12 schools and 700 children. Employees of Cobb-Vantress, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tyson Foods, will provide technical assistance and training to the farmers, and Tyson Foods will contribute $50,000, with a goal of reaching 7,000 children over the next two years.

Shreenagar Agro, a leader in Nepalese agribusiness, will provide another $50,000 to that collaborative project.

The second project involves the OneEgg chapter that has launched in Honduras. The project will focus on providing eggs to expectant mothers and their families. Tyson Foods will contribute $65,000, and in-country partner Honduras Outreach International will provide $50,000. This project also includes research, education and outreach efforts.

The third project involves the OneEgg chapter that will be launched in Ethiopia in collaboration with Project Mercy. The project will introduce the production and consumption of eggs to the Yetebon community. Employees of Cobb-Vantress will provide technical assistance and training to farmers there. Tyson Foods will contribute $56,500, and Project Mercy will provide $56,500.
