Jonesboro Radio Group Turns to Versatile Voice, Christie Matthews, to Be General Sales Manager

1 min read

Christie Matthews, Jonesboro Radio Group’s triple threat as an on-air star, programming chief and sales leader, has been named the six-station chain’s general sales manager.

A native of Hartford (Sebastian County) with 30 years of radio experience, Matthews will guide advertising strategy, according to Trey Stafford, the company’s president and general manager.

She’ll also continue doing her daily 10 a.m.-2 p.m. show on country station KDXY-FM, 104.9, the Fox.

Stafford said he was excited that Matthews was taking on yet another challenge for the group, which she joined in 1997.

“Christie has well demonstrated that she is already a great on-air talent, an outstanding program director and a major top-shelf sales leader,” Stafford said. “Quite a career accomplishment already, with more to come.”

A native of Hartford (Sebastian County), Matthews has been honored as a top country radio programmer by Radio Ink, a trade publication, and was a Saga Communications Best of Brand Award winner.

Parent-company Saga, of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, has stations in 26 American markets, including more than 100 brands operated by local managers “committed to building positive relationships with our audiences and clients,” according to the company’s website.

In addition to The Fox, Jonesboro Radio Group’s stations in the northeast Arkansas market are KEGI-FM, the Eagle, 100.5, playing classic rock; KJBX-FM, Mix 106.3, with adult hits; KDXY-HD2, Hot 107.5, with a rhythmic Christian format; KDXY-HD3, ESPN 92.7, sports; and KJBX-HD2, 98.5, the Outlaw, with classic country.
