Flatbed Company Looking to Get Level with Little RockLock Icon

Kaplan Trucking Co. of Cleveland, Ohio, is planning an expansion into the Little Rock market.

Kaplan runs more than 700 owner-operator flatbed trailers in the country and also owns several more trucking subsidiaries. Kevin Hunt of Little Rock has been in the trucking industry for more than two decades and joined Kaplan as its southwest regional manager a year ago.

Hunt is overseeing the push into Little Rock. Six owner-operators are already working and generating approximately $6,000 in revenue a week. Hunt said Kaplan eventually wants to have a contingent of more than 100 trucks in central Arkansas.

Kaplan is also close to buying up a terminal building in the region and another trucking company to fuel the expansion plans.

Kaplan’s business plan is to make down payments on tractors and then lease the equipment to owner-operators. Kaplan has already made investments in the Little Rock market by buying used tractors from Maverick Transportation of North Little Rock.

“We’re growing by leaps and bounds,” Hunt said. “We are the best owner-operator flatbed company in the country. We want to take off and make it happen.”
