Mark Smeltzer Honored at UAMS (Movers & Shakers)

Mark Smeltzer, professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, was invested Oct. 28 in the Chair of Sciences Basic to Medicine.

An endowed chair is among the highest academic honors a university can bestow on a faculty member.


Tammie Lemmons, a teacher and director of adult education at Black River Technical College in Pocahontas, has received the Garland Hankins Award from the Arkansas Association of Continuing & Adult Education.

Brittany Hall has accepted the position of admissions/recruiter at Black River Tech. She worked at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center for four years and at Cyient for the past year.
