Millie Ward doesn’t hunt, but she does have a fishing license, and the Little Rock advertising exec’s work for the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission is pushing other Arkansans to join her outdoors.
Stone Ward, the downtown marketing firm that Ward serves as president, has won a $2 million, five-year account to help the commission project its image as Arkansas’ largest wildlife conservation organization and reverse a decline in the percentage of Arkansans buying hunting and fishing licences annually.
Stone Ward previously had the G&FC’s business, but a request for proposals issued Oct. 2 upped the ante with a $400,000 annual budget to help recruit and retain hunters and anglers across the state, among other goals.
The RFP process was led by Spencer Griffith, the commission’s marketing director and a former brand manager at Stone Ward. Griffith told Whispers that Stone Ward’s bid reflected an altruistic approach and a commitment to state budget efficiency. The commission awarded the contract on Oct. 25.
Ward said her firm would be supporting all Game & Fish programs regarding conservation and “the joys of enjoying Arkansas’ outdoors in consumptive and non-consumptive ways, hunting and fishing for sure, and hiking, biking and camping, etc.”
