Since 2005, Arkansas Business has offered readers an annual look at Pulaski County homes that have sold for $1 million or more.
This year, we also compiled a less detailed list of seven-digit home sales in the northwest corner of the state, Benton and Washington counties. But in the land of Wal-Mart and Vendorville, the number and size of high-end house deals can be even bigger.
In 2014, for the first time since we began our Pulaski County research with million-dollar sales in 2004, no home in the state’s most populous county topped $2 million. And in all the years since, no house in Pulaski County is believed to have commanded a higher price than the $4.2 million paid for the most expensive northwest Arkansas home of 2014.
And that Fayetteville house — a palatial 12,500 SF purchased by Jon Dyer, chief financial officer and co-owner of Taco Bell franchisee K-Mac Enterprises, and his wife, Joan, through a family trust — was one of three northwest Arkansas homes to sell for more than $2 million last year. The other two were in Bentonville.
The two counties in northwest Arkansas — with combined population estimated at close to 465,000, almost 20 percent higher than Pulaski County’s — also had more $1 million-plus home sales last year: 18 versus 14.
