An example of the Today's Power solar array, set up in Little Rock.
Today’s Power Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc. of Little Rock, said Wednesday that it has reached an agreement to provide a one-megawatt AC solar array for Tri-County Electric Cooperative of Hooker, Oklahoma.
TCEC plans to offer its members the opportunity to purchase solar energy produced by the system, AECI said in a news release.
“TCEC is dedicated to providing our members with reliable electricity in a cost-effective manner,” TCEC’s CEO Jack Perkins said. “Our board works to meet the needs of our membership both today and in the future.”
Today’s Power President Michael Henderson said the solar project “provides maximum energy density and requires approximately 40 percent less space than traditional systems.”
The facility is projected to generate more than 50 million kWhs and prevent more than 40,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its 25-year useful life.
AECI announced the formation of Today’s Power in February. It said it formed the subsidiary to provide renewable energy solutions, energy efficiency programs and emergency backup generators for large commercial, industrial or utility customers.
Today’s Power has an exclusive distribution agreement to promote and sell tenKsolar products in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Missouri.
AECI is a utility service cooperative owned by 17 Arkansas electric distribution cooperatives.
