Simmons Foods Inc. of Siloam Springs announced it had raised pay for workers at its production facilities.
Simmons said hourly wages for full- and part-time employees rose to $10 an hour beginning Jan. 1. Simmons said the rate had been about $9 an hour before the increase.
"Our employees make the difference for our business and our customers," said Dan Houston, executive vice president of human resources. "As we grow, we want to make sure we're able to attract and retain top talent."
The pay rate change will also affect other workers. Production work can earn as much as $17 an hour and other positions could make up to $25 an hour, Simmons said.
"We look at the whole wage package, and pay is just one part of that," Houston said. "We’re working to offer some of the best benefits you can find in our area in addition to competitive pay."
