The University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College Foundation on Monday announced that it has raised more than $2.5 million to furnish and equip its $30 million, 90,000-SF Center for Humanities and Arts in North Little Rock.

The center opened in JanuaryThe original goal for the capital campaign was $1 million.

The Windgate Charitable Foundation of Siloam Springs matched $500,000 of the donations that were collected and donated $1 million in October 2015. The art gallery was named the “Windgate Gallery” in honor of that donation.

Premium items purchased for the center include two Kawai grand pianos, one of which is a Kawai Shigeru 9-foot concert grand piano, the only one in the state. Also, a pit lift for the orchestra pit and an orchestra shell for the theater were purchased to make the theater a state-of-the art venue.

The CHARTS theater has hosted music acts, such as Mavis Staples and Delbert McClinton, and been used for events by the Thea Foundation, Opera in the Rock, ACANSA Arts Festival and AETN.

The UA-Pulaski Technical College Foundation said the CHARTS facility is booking national traveling exhibitions in the Windgate Gallery and will soon announce its upcoming season of performing arts, including national touring music acts, speakers, comedians and films.
