Tracy Rosser Departs WalmartLock Icon

1 min read

Did you know Tracy Rosser, the senior vice president in charge of transportation at Walmart Inc. in Bentonville, left the company at the end of January?

Greg Smith, Walmart’s executive vice president of supply chain, said in a company memo that Rosser’s position would be filled on an interim basis by two in-house executives. Vice President Ken Braunbach will assume oversight of Inbound Transportation and the Common Carrier Outbound division, and Vice President Jeff Hammonds will take over Fleet.

Smith said Rosser left Walmart after 22 years to pursue “other opportunities” and be closer to family. Rosser was born in Tennessee and is a graduate of the University of Alabama.

Under Rosser’s leadership, Walmart’s private transportation fleet was rated the safest in the United States for five consecutive years. One notable tragedy, however, was a 2014 New Jersey accident that involved a Walmart truck and a limousine carrying comedian Tracy Morgan and friends, one of whom was killed while Morgan was seriously injured.

Under Rosser’s leadership, Walmart had started a major project to recruit and retain drivers for its 6,500-truck fleet. Walmart said it hired 1,400 new drivers in 2018 and sped up the hiring process and raised driver pay.
