Chris Roberts, chairman and CEO of Capital Bancshares Inc. and The Capital Bank in Little Rock, announced Wednesday that the state Bank Department has approved its name change to Encore Bank.
Roberts said the name change and rebranding is scheduled for May.
"We are excited about all of the positive changes that are planned for 2019 and our decision to change the name to Encore Bank reflects this," Roberts said. "For our team, Encore means a dynamic partnership of banking professionals building a bank that is focused on relationships, culture, and customer service."
Arkansas Business reported on the bank's new strategy in a cover story last week. The change is part of a relaunch the Little Rock bank that includes a $50 million stock offering.
The Capital Bank opened in 1997 and has assets of $174 million. It plans to open a second office next month to expand beyond its west Little Rock headquarters. The 922-SF leased facility is at 5100 Kavanaugh Blvd. in the Heights area of Little Rock
Also this week, First Community Bank of Eastern Arkansas changed its name to Premier Bank. The Marion bank opened in 1998 and had $7.8 million in assets at the end of 2019.
