Sunstar Insurance Group LLC of Little Rock has continued its expansion trend, announcing a merger with the Todd Agency of Little Rock.
The acquisition is the company's fourth since Andrew "A.B." Meadors took over leadership as CEO of Sunstar in Arkansas in September 2017, and it adds six new employees with a combined 110 years of experience in the insurance industry.
"It's a new day for us here at Sunstar," Meadors said in a news release. "The family is growing, doubling in size, and adding capabilities and expertise that we didn’t have before."
The combined agency has relocated to a new 7,000-SF office in Kirkpatrick Plaza in Little Rock, and Sunstar Arkansas now has 28 employees at offices in Little Rock, Jonesboro, Helena and Rogers.
"We benefit each other very well," said David Todd, whose agency has made a name for itself in over 35 years in Little Rock. "We do it all, but our primary business has been group benefits, individual medical and Medicare. Joining Sunstar gives our clients added areas of expertise in property and casualty insurance."
Meadors said the addition "strengthens Sunstar across the board, enabling us to provide seamless coverage to all our clients. David and I quickly agreed that we were better together than separate."
Sunstar Insurance Group, based in Memphis, was founded by Chairman and CEO David "Casey" Bowlin and has grown into the 56th largest property and casualty insurance agency in the U.S. as ranked by the industry trade magazine Insurance Journal. The firm operates in Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Kansas, and is owned by key employees and a group of outside investors, according to the release.
