Caryl M. Stern
Carrie Walton Penner, the chairwoman of the Walton Family Foundation Board of Directors, said Monday that Caryl M. Stern will be the nonprofit’s new executive director.
Stern will begin her duties in January. She replaces Kyle Peterson, who stepped down as executive director this past summer after three years.
“Caryl’s incredible record of leadership and service makes her the perfect choice for the Walton Family Foundation,” Penner said. “We are excited to have her join us in making a difference for those we serve.”
Stern, 61, has been the president and CEO of UNICEF USA since 2007. Before that, she had been with the Anti-Defamation League from 1987 to 2006, eventually serving as the group’s COO.
“It is an honor to become a part of the critical work of the Walton Family Foundation,” Stern said. “For decades, the foundation has focused on addressing some of the biggest challenges of our time.”
