Plans Confirmed for New Food-Hall Style Restaurant in Little Rock’s East Village

2 min read

Fidel Samour, owner of Fidel & Co. in Little Rock, announced Monday that he will open a new food hall-style restaurant in the former location of Cathead’s Diner at 515 Shall Ave. in Little Rock’s East Village, confirming a report in Monday’s Whispers.

Sterling Market is aiming to open its doors in spring 2022, a press release said.

“Remolinos Group is a new concepting group that has formed to create new experiences through thoughtfully sourced and expertly crafted food and drink here in Little Rock, AR — the first of which is Sterling Market,” the release said.

“We are determined to create a fun culinary experience that is driven by all things local, high quality and sustainable,” Samour said. “Between chefs, food and locally made goods, Sterling Market will be a one-stop shop to gather, celebrate, relax and unwind.”

The restaurant’s head chef will be John Burt, and Paige Russell-Burt will be pastry chef. Sterling Market will host four different food options, the release said, including a butcher shop, a greens/sandwiches station, an artisan pizza station and a bakery, as well as a full bar and a grab-and-go area selling to-go food and locally made goods.

“In addition to the wide variety of food selections Sterling Market looks to host ‘kitchen takeovers,’ inviting chefs to use the restaurant’s premises to showcase their favorite dishes,” according to the release.

Building permits indicate a $600,000 remodel of the space is underway.
