Acxiom Lays Off 20 in Marketing

Acxiom Corp. on Thursday confirmed it had laid off around 20 employees in its marketing division.

Ines Gutzmer, a spokeswoman for Acxiom, said the layoffs were only in Little Rock and were part of a company reorganization.

"Sometimes we need to make the decision to be more nimble in our approach to marketing," she said. "It's just part of normal restructuring."

In July, when discussing the fiscal results of its first 2014 quarter, CEO Scott Howe said the company had lost some clients in its information technology infrastructure management segment. However, Gutzmer said those losses had no bearing on the layoffs.

The company posted earnings of $13.1 million and revenue of $266 million in its first quarter. Earnings were down about 1 percent and revenue down 2 percent from the same quarter last year.

Revenue is expected to be flat for the rest of the year, with declines in its IT business being offset by growth in marketing and data services, the company said.
