Jason C. Penry, vice chancellor for university advancement at Arkansas State University, was one of six recipients of the 2016 LSU-Shreveport Circle of Excellence Award, honoring alumni for leadership and professional achievements. Penry, a 2001 LSUS graduate, helped establish the second medical school in Arkansas, opening at A-State in August. He and his team also recently recorded the best fundraising year in the school’s 107-year history.
Ruth Hawkins, director of the Arkansas State University Heritage Sites program, was recently awarded a lifetime achievement award at the 75th annual awards banquet of the Arkansas Historical Association in Little Rock. Hawkins was honored for her signal contributions to historic preservation, public history and historical tourism through the Heritage Sites program.
Susan Hoffpauir was elected as board chair of the Single Parents Scholarship Fund of Pulaski County in Little Rock. Hoffpauir is a professor and associate dean of academic affairs at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.
