Access has closed on the $2.6 million purchase of the former First Christian Church at 1500 N. Mississippi in Little Rock, commercial real estate firm Colliers International announced Thursday.
The nonprofit, which offers full-time education, therapy, training and activities for children and young adults with language and learning disabilities, closed on the purchase on Wednesday.
“We have been at capacity for five years and are limited in the number of students we can help each day,” Tammy Simmons, Access’ executive director, said in a news release. “More families can be assisted with additional space. This site is also ideal because of the close proximity of the two locations.”
The 45,457-SF building sits on 10.3 acres of property. Access plans to move its school-age and adult services there, with room for growth in classroom instruction and therapy programs. It will keep early childhood services at its current location at 10618 Breckenridge Drive.
The school expects to begin work renovating the church this summer.
“With its central location and easy accessibility from all parts of the city, this is a perfect place for Access,” Mark Bentley, principal broker at Colliers International, said in a news release. “This property will provide Access much-needed room for expansion as they continue to provide services throughout central Arkansas and beyond.”
Bentley represented Access; Jim Irwin of Irwin Partners represented the church.
