Acxiom Corp. Partners With Boys & Girls Clubs

1 min read

Acxiom Corp. of Little Rock announced Wednesday a partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas and Faulkner County, to provide STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs to their members during out-of-school hours.

The publicly traded data services company said it committed to invest $25,000 in the program; CEO Scott Howe said he will personally match the corporate gift with another $25,000.

“There is no more valuable investment than the one we make in our young people,” Howe said in a news release. “Growing up, I was fortunate to have teachers and mentors who cultivated my interest in math, computers and learning. Just as that has made a tremendous impact in my own life, I hope that my gift will have a similar influence on our current generation of young people.”

The pilot program will begin this summer at six central Arkansas Boys & Girls Club locations and one location in Conway. The program will target students age 9-12 and focus on introducing STEM principles.

“We are tasked daily with ensuring that our members graduate from high school prepared for their future,” said Cindy Doramus, CEO, Boys & Girls Club of Central Arkansas. “More and more we are finding that the demand in our community for technological-skilled workers is on the rise. This program will help spark interest in the minds of our young people and hopefully plant a seed that will develop into a love for STEM learning and potentially a career path.”
