1 min read

Andrea Allen has been promoted to executive director of the Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University.

Allen joined A-State as deputy director of the center in 2016 and became interim executive director earlier this year.

As interim director, the university said Allen oversaw the expansion of services with key constituent groups and added new programs. The most notable was the awarding of a five-year, $564,000 Economic Development Administration grant to the center and the re-establishment of the University Center designation for the Delta Center.

She also negotiated a renewal and support increase for the center’s role as the administrator of the Delta Leadership Institute and the Delta Leadership Network on behalf of the Delta Regional Authority.

Allen contracted with Jefferson Regional Medical Center to facilitate focus groups and support work for JRMC in its strategic plan as well.

She is expanding the Delta Center’s relationships with area businesses, industry leaders and ASU System members, such as ASU-Newport, and negotiating office leases with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.

Before joining A-State, Allen served as a director of public affairs for U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Ark. She has also been director of family programs for the National Guard Professional Education Center and served for six years on the staff of then-U.S. Sen. Tim Hutchinson, R-Ark.
