Two events about architecture are scheduled during February at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.
Architecture critic Sarah Goldhagen, author of “Louis Kahn’s Situated Modernism” and a contributor to The New York Times and other publications, will speak on Sunday, Feb. 8.
The lecture, from 5 to 6 p.m., will offer tools for looking at how the design of buildings in public spaces shapes the individual and the collective, our private and social lives. As she is featured in “Global Citizen,” a book about the career of Crystal Bridges’ designer Moshe Safdie, Goldhagen will focus her comments on Safdie’s design, as well as Crystal Bridges’ acquisition of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman Wilson House.
Admission is $10 for non-members and free for members of Crystal Bridges. Register online at CrystalBridges.org or by calling guest services at (479) 657-2335.
On Feb. 23, the museum will reveal two portfolios of Wright’s work in anticipation of the completion of the Bachman Wilson installation.
The portfolios were given to the museum’s library by Kirk Dandridge, a retired surgeon and volunteer at Crystal Bridges’ library.
