The 10th Annual Arkansas Bioinformatics Consortium is scheduled for Feb. 26 – 27 at the Wyndham Riverfront in North Little Rock. The event will feature Namandjé Bumbus, the chief scientist for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as the keynote speaker.
The theme of the 2024 conference is “Real-World Impact of AI.” Discussions will focus on the significance of artificial intelligence in the field of bioinformatics. Other speakers include: Richard Woychik, the director of the National Institute of Environment Health Science; Thomas Hartung, a professor from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; and Ruth Roberts, director of drug discovery at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
“More than 200 people attend AR-BIC, and we expect those numbers to grow every year,” Bryan Barnhouse, Arkansas Research Alliance president and CEO, said in a statement. “This is the most important gathering of the bioinformatics community in the region, which is reflected by the quantity of speakers that headline the event.”
In addition to speakers and breakout sessions, the summit will also include its “Poster Contest,” which offers cash prizes to undergraduate and graduate students, and postdocs.
