Arkansas Home Sales Flat in December

The Arkansas Realtors Association recently announced that home sales held steady in December. 

According to the report, which surveys home sales in 43 counties, the number of homes sold in December decreased by 2.8 percent. A total of 2,656 homes sold in December, compared to 2,731 reported for December 2016.

The average price of homes sold rose by 1.5 percent, to $175,227 from $172,727 in December 2016.

Statewide valuations in December decreased by 1.3 percent year-over-year to $465 million.

Home sales in Arkansas’ top five most active markets totaled 1,469, down 5 percent from the same month in 2016.

Washington, Pulaski and Benton county sales dropped by 17.6 percent, 6.6 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively.

Sales in Sebastian and Saline counties increased by 5.7 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively.

Here’s unit sales for Arkansas’ five busiest counties:

  • Washington: 249, down from 302 in the same month of last year.
  • Pulaski: 384, down from 411.
  • Sebastian: 167, up from 158.
  • Saline: 153, up from 149.
  • Benton: 516, down from 527.

Fulton County led the state for highest average price, at $249,000, up 232 percent from December 2016.

The other highest average prices were:

  • $221,268, up 2.5 percent, in Benton County.
  • $216,635, up 5.1 percent in Washington County.
  • $209,390, up 8.3 percent in Pulaski County.
  • $200,971, down 3.6 percent in Cleburne County.
