Arkansas Home Sales Flat in September

The Arkansas Realtors Association said Monday that home sales were flat in September.

According to the report, which surveys home sales in 43 counties, the number of homes sold in September increased by 0.1 percent. A total of 3,013 homes sold in September, compared to 3,010 reported for September 2016.

The average price of homes sold rose by 1.8 percent, to $174,613 from $171,460 in September 2016. 

Statewide valuations in September increased by 1.9 percent year-over-year to $526 million.

Home sales in Arkansas’ top five most active markets totaled 1,622, down 2.6 percent from the same month in 2016.

Sales in Faulkner, Pulaski and Benton counties increased by 5.2 percent, 2.2 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.

Saline County sales didn’t change, but Washington County sales plummeted by 19 percent. 

Here’s unit sales for Arkansas’ five busiest counties:

  • Faulkner: 162, up from 154.
  • Pulaski: 464, up from 454.
  • Benton: 558, up from 554.
  • Saline: 157, the same number reported for September 2016.
  • Washington: 281, down from 347 in the same month of last year.

Benton County led the state for highest average price, at $224,612, up 6.1 percent from September 2016.

The other highest average prices were:

  • $202,795, down 0.5 percent, in Washington County;
  • $198,924, up 8.6 percent in Saline County;
  • $192,087, up 0.7 percent in Pulaski County;
  • and $191,338, up 1.8 percent in Carroll County.
