Arkansas Home Sales, Prices Increased in July

The Arkansas Realtors Association said Wednesday that both home sales and the average price of homes sold increased in July.

The report, which surveys home sales in 43 counties, showed 3,158 homes sold in July, up by 1 percent from the 3,124 reported for July 2016.

The average price of the homes sold rose by 4.8 percent to $182,414 from $174,021 in the same month last year.

Statewide valuations in July also increased by 6 percent year-over-year to $576 million.

Home sales in Arkansas’ top five most active markets totaled 1,718, down 1.4 percent from the same month in 2016.

Sales in Sebastian County increased by 19.4 percent, while Pulaski and Washington Counties saw decreases of 5.9 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively.

Here’s unit sales for Arkansas’ five busiest counties:

  • Sebastian: 172, up from 144 in the same month of last year.
  • Pulaski: 459, down from 488.
  • Washington: 334, down from 364.
  • Saline: 169, up 3.7 percent from 163.
  • Benton: 584, up less than 1 percent from 583.

Benton County led the state for highest average price in July, at $236,134, up 4.2 percent from July 2016.

The other highest average prices were:

  • $213,947, up 11.8 percent, in Washington County;
  • $197,543, up 7 percent in Pulaski County;
  • $197,225, up 15 percent in Carroll County;
  • and $192,690, up 9 percent in Saline County.
