The state’s unemployment rate remained at 3.7% in June, going unchanged for a fourth straight month, the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services reported.
The U.S. jobless rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.2% in June.
In Arkansas, the civilian labor force increased by 540 to 1.423 million, remaining at record levels. The labor force participation rate in June remained at 58.4%.
Compared to June 2024, there were 10,049 more people employed in the state. The unemployment rate is up three-tenths of a percentage point. Arkansas’ labor force participation rate is up two-tenths of a percentage point on an annual basis.
On a monthly basis, nonfarm payroll jobs decreased by 3,600 in June. Jobs in government decreased 7,200, related to the start of summer break at public schools and universities. Hiring was reported in leisure and hospitality (+1,500) and in manufacturing (+1,300).
Compared to June 2024, Arkansas’ nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 24,900 The largest gains occurred in private education and health services (+12,200), trade, transportation and utilities (+5,200), leisure and
hospitality (+4,400) and manufacturing (+2,500).
