Not all of the high-dollar homes in Arkansas are in Pulaski, Benton or Washington counties, although that’s what this issue focuses on. The highest-priced single-lot home sold in Arkansas in 2021 appears to have been in Cleburne County.
Mark McKenzie, owner of McKenzie Realty Group of Heber Springs, listed and sold a $4.8 million beauty on Eden Isle, the resort-like peninsula that juts into Greers Ferry Lake on the west side of Heber Springs. (The deal actually closed the first week of January.)
The steel and concrete house is big — just over 9,000 SF, according to the listing — but there are larger that sold for less than $531 per SF. This one was built in 2012, and six of its seven bedrooms are private suites. It has two living areas, two offices and three kitchens, and almost every room and the pool area have a western view of the lake.
The seller was the living trust of William B. Benton Sr. The new owner is the living trust of William T. “Bill” Evans, a founder of LifePlus, the Batesville manufacturer and marketer of dietary supplements.
Coincidentally or not, Evans recently sold his ownership interest in LifePlus back to the company, which is now owned solely by its CEO, Robert Christian.
Speaking of LifePlus …
Scott Lancaster, general counsel for LifePlus, tells Whispers that a multimillion-dollar expansion of the manufacturing operation is in the works. It currently employs about 175 people.
Stay tuned.
