Artee Williams
Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson will have a new director for the state Department of Workforce Services.
Artee Williams, the department’s current director, said he was informed Tuesday that Hutchinson would make a change in leadership. Williams was originally appointed to the position in 2004 by Gov. Mike Huckabee, and reappointed in 2007 by Gov. Mike Beebe.
“I appreciate the years of service that Artee Williams has provided as Arkansas Workforce Services director and am grateful for his work during the transition,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “I look forward to building upon the leadership that Artee established.”
Previously, Williams served as chairman of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet, and is the current chairman of the Arkansas Public Employee Retirement System Board of Trustees.
Williams asked department employees to support Hutchinson and his new director.
