Asa Hutchinson Wants Ted Thomas for Chairman of Public Service Commission

1 min read

Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson has said he intends to appoint Ted Thomas as chairman of the Public Service Commission.

Thomas served as administrative law judge at PSC for more than seven years, and was budget director for Gov. Mike Huckabee. He also served in the Arkansas House of Representatives, and was chairman of the State Agencies & Governmental Affairs Committee.

“This appointment is a critical one — both in terms of economic development and consumer protection — and striking the right balance is key,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “[Thomas] recognizes how important this balance is and understands the significant role it plays as we attempt to create a strong environment for economic growth in Arkansas.”

Thomas is licensed to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Arkansas Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the Eighth Circuit. He was previously the chief deputy prosecuting attorney for the 20th Judicial District.

“I would like to thank Gov.-elect Hutchinson for appointing me to the Public Service Commission,” Thomas said in a statement.
