Arkansas State, Indonesian University to Explore Partnership

1 min read

Arkansas State University Chancellor Tim Hudson said Monday that he has signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Manado, a public university located in the province of North Sulawesi in Indonesia.

UNIMA consists of three campuses and more than 32,000 students. The university is interested in sending students and faculty to Arkansas State to study English in the English Learning Academy. The two also are working to develop a 2+2 degree program partnership in business administration. Students participating in the program would study the first two years in Indonesia, then transfer to Arkansas State to complete their undergraduate degree.

Hudson described the importance of the agreement in a news release.

“At Arkansas State we are committed to providing our students with an education that includes an understanding of the wider world,” he said. “Indonesia is one of the most powerful and important countries in the world, and certainly our students need to know more about it. We’re honored to enter into this initial agreement and we look forward to developing many programs with our new colleagues from Indonesia.”

Three individuals represented the University of Manado during the signing ceremony: Philoteus E A Tuerah, rector (CEO) and professor; Sjamsi Pasandaran, professor and chair of the UNIMA Senate; and Recky H. E. Sendouw, deputy vice rector.
