Attorneys’ Fees Total $94,000 in Heartland CaseLock Icon

Do you remember the $11 million default judgment we told you about a few weeks ago against the California businessman who in late 2015 was going to work a deal to rescue now-defunct Heartland Bank of Little Rock?

Well, the lawyers who represented the plaintiff in the case were just awarded $94,000 in attorneys’ fees.

Attorneys Kelly McNulty and Aaron Heffington of Gill Ragon Owen of Little Rock represented CTHC Holdings LLC, led by Richard “Rick” Williams of Hot Springs.

CTHC sued Suneet Singal and his companies in a messy case that involved stock pledged as collateral that wasn’t handed over to CTHC.

“Mr. McNulty and Mr. Heffington are respected attorneys with 21 years of experience between them,” U.S. District Judge James M. Moody Jr. said in his order, filed Thursday. “The case required out-of-state depositions, a bench trial, and research and response to numerous motions.”

The attorneys spent nearly 500 hours on the case and sought damages for clients of $11 million, which they were awarded.

“The case involved complex financial transactions and contractual issues, as well problematic discovery situations,” Moody wrote.

Moody awarded McNulty and Heffington the amount of fees they requested.
