1 min read

HFA Architecture + Engineering of Bentonville announced the acquisition of TRIA Inc. of Boston, an architecture firm known for its expertise in life sciences and laboratory design.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Since its founding in 2015, TRIA has partnered with leading biotech, pharmaceutical and research organizations in the Boston area. The company’s portfolio includes state-of-the-art research and development labs, biomanufacturing facilities and dynamic workplace environments for scientists, HFA said in a news release.

HFS said that combining TRIA’s specialized design expertise with HFA’s services and national reach will allow it to deliver “comprehensive, future-ready solutions” for clients.

“This partnership is about bringing together people who care deeply about the impact their work has on the world,” Dave Wilgus, CEO of HFA, said in the release. “TRIA’s expertise in science and technology adds an exciting new dimension to what we do. Together, we’ll continue designing spaces that help our clients solve complex challenges and push innovation forward.”

TRIA is led by president and CEO Sherwood Butler. HFA said the Boston firm’s leadership team will remain in place.

The acquisition comes about three months after HFA announced the purchase of Baltimore boutique architecture firm The Chesapeake Design Group.

HFA also has offices in Fort Worth, Texas, and Franklin, Massachusetts. The company’s portfolio includes commercial projects in retail, industrial, mixed-use office, restaurants, health care, hospitality and entertainment spaces.
