As vice president of marketing and development, Barbara Graves will focus on developing new accounts for Strategic Technologies Corp., which helps clients improve risk management and service levels by offering an array of tech services, software and platforms aimed at multiple industries.
After moving with her family to Mountain Home from Illinois in 1962, Barbara Graves graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a fine arts degree, and later attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Firelands Campus of Bowling Green State University in Ohio. In October 1973, she founded Barbara Graves Intimate Fashions, which products included swimsuits, leisurewear, lingerie and a full-service mastectomy department. Graves operated the store until its closing in June 2014.
In 1986, Graves joined the Central Arkansas Executives Association, later becoming its president in 1992. Six years later, she became the first woman president of the Rotary Club of Little Rock. Graves was also the president of the Arkansas Grocers & Retail Merchants Association from 1992-1993 and sat on the Little Rock City Board of Directors for four years before becoming the city’s vice mayor from 2005-2006. Her store was named Retail Company of the Year by the Arkansas Grocers & Retail Merchants in 1994, with Graves being named Retailer of the Year for a Specialty Store that same year by the Southwest Swim Association.
