Benny Gooden Named to Exec Position at Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (Movers & Shakers)

Benny L. Gooden has been appointed executive director of institutional relations at the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education.

Gooden recently retired as superintendent of the Fort Smith School District, a role he held for 30 years. He has also served in public relations for 50 years as a teacher and building/central office administrator.

In his new position, Gooden will work with public schools throughout the state to set up educational programs aimed at enhancing school-age children’s interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM fields.


Crystal Hunnicutt has joined the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as a research compliance officer. Hunnicutt, a UALR alumna, has served as a research compliance educator at the University of Arkansas for Medical Research, and most recently worked as an ethics educator and learning systems management administrator for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.


Celya Taylor was recently named dean of the Teachers College at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.

Taylor joined HSU in 2001 as an instructor of curriculum and instruction and director of the M.H. Russell Center for Economic Education. She has since worked as interim chair of the department of curriculum and instruction, chair of the department of advanced instructional studies and educational leadership, and associate dean and licensure officer for the Teachers College.
