BancorpSouth Bank of Tupelo, Mississippi, has filed a foreclosure suit against a Bentonville man and his nearly $900,000 home.

Bancorp, through attorney Gary Burbank of El Dorado, filed the suit in Benton County Circuit Court on March 5. It alleged that Anthony D. George agreed to a loan of more than $877,000 in November 2014 in order to purchase a 6,774-SF home on Talamore Boulevard in Bentonville.

The home sits on two acres. Tax records for the county show that 2016 property taxes of more than $10,000 are delinquent.

Bancorp said George has fallen more than $34,000 behind on his monthly payments and it’s attempting to foreclose on the home to collect the balance of more than $860,000 along with interest and attorney fees.

The bank asked the court to appoint a commissioner in order to hold a foreclosure sale of the residence.
