Big Whiskey’s Responds to Little Rock Franchise’s LawsuitLock Icon

1 min read

Defendants in that Big Whiskey’s lawsuit that Whispers told you about last week have responded to James Bryant’s allegations regarding the opening of a Big Whiskey’s restaurant and bar in Bentonville.

If you’ll recall, Bryant, an owner of the Big Whiskey’s in Little Rock, alleged breach of contract, saying that he and his Big Whiskey’s of Little Rock LLC had the right of first refusal on any new Big Whiskey’s in Arkansas.

The defendants — including Big Whiskey’s Franchising LLC and Shane Wallace Miller, who opened the Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant & Bar in Bentonville in March — don’t say much about Bryant’s argument. Instead, they say that the licensing agreement Bryant signed requires any disagreements to be arbitrated. They ask the court to dismiss Bryant’s lawsuit, filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court, and compel the restaurateur to submit to arbitration.

Big Whiskey’s, based in Springfield, Missouri, has seven locations in that state, and its website says there are plans for locations in Las Vegas and Birmingham, Alabama, in 2018.
