Bodcaw Bank of Stamps is making an interstate move to enter a new market. The $151 million-asset lender intends to set up shop at 3625 Richmond Road in Texarkana, Texas.
“We’re excited about the new office and are remodeling to make it our own,” said Natalie Copeland, executive assistant at Bodcaw Bank.
Three years ago, the 4,400-SF location was home to a branch of Magnolia’s Farmers Bank & Trust, part of the 2014 acquisition of 1st Bank of Texarkana, Texas. The office is Bodcaw’s second branch effort. The bank opened its first branch in Magnolia in 2019.
The branch activity at Bodcaw Bank follows a change in leadership in 2018 when Korey Keith was named president and CEO.
Three other Arkansas-based lenders are among a dozen banks that operate 20 offices in the Texarkana market west of State Line Avenue.
The $1.8-billion-asset Farmers Bank & Trust holds a leading position with an 18.59% stake ($271.8 million) in the $1.9-billion deposit market.
Bank OZK of Little Rock holds the eighth largest share of deposits at 6.92% ($101 million), and Diamond Bank of Murfreesboro stands at No. 11, 0.78% ($11 million).
In 2004, the $26.6 billion-asset Bank OZK opened the first of its two Texarkana branches in Texas. The $733 million-asset Diamond Bank started its branch there in 2017.
