Brandon Tabor Named News Director of KASU-FM

2 min read

Brandon Tabor has been named news director of National Public Radio member station KASU-FM, 91.9, at Arkansas State University, the station announced Tuesday.

Tabor, the on-air host for KASU’s “Morning Edition,” follows Johnathan Reaves, who stepped down as news director in March to accept an academic adviser role in the College of Liberal Arts and Communication.

Tabor joined the station in 2015 as a content producer and “Morning Edition” co-host. Since then, he has won a first-place award from the Associated Press for his work on a sports feature and led the station’s conversion to a new content management system.

Tabor, a Wynne native, will continue hosting “Morning Edition” until a new host is found.

In a statement, he said he plans to use the station as a “launching pad for new voices.”

“I feel very humbled and honored to take over as mews director,” Tabor said. “These shoes are very big to fill, following the legacies of great news leaders before me, such as Charles Rasberry, Greg Chance and Johnathan Reaves. I hope to piggyback off of their progress and usher KASU news to a new level — having stories told by and about the great people who live in this unique and diverse region.”

Tabor holds a bachelor’s in mass media from Henderson State University, where he worked for KSWH-LP FM, 102.5, the university-owned radio station, and Henderson TV, the on-campus TV station.

He earned a master’s mass communications from A-State and is a member of the Arkansas State Association of Black Journalists.

Tabor is also one of the volunteers who helped launch the low-power community station KLEK-LP FM, 102.5, in Jonesboro.
