Arkansas Foodbank

2024 Arkansas Business of the Year // Nonprofit Organization of the Year

Little Rock

2024 will be a banner year for the Arkansas Foodbank. The state’s largest hunger relief organization will mark its 40th anniversary while incorporating new technology and efficiencies to better serve its 33-county area.

The organization aims to find new partners to source the quality food it provides. The challenge is a big one. Arkansas is now No. 1 in the country for food insecurity, according to a report last year by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

To reverse the trend, the food bank is making greater use of technology. It has a warehouse automation system that allows it to more efficiently track and distribute food, and a client data system that helps it know more about the people it serves and their needs.

In 2023, for the second straight year, the organization distributed 40 million pounds of food, the equivalent of more than 33 million meals.
