2024 Arkansas Business of the Year // Category II (31-55 Employees)

Little Rock

AWP Wood Products made quite a turnaround after CEO Victor Barringer bought the company in 2014.

The Little Rock-based company, which distributes hardwood lumber and plywood to cabinet makers across eight states, was losing money at the time.

“Over the last two years, despite the pandemic we have doubled our sales and greatly increased profitability without increasing overhead,” he said.

Along with supplying cabinet manufacturers with raw materials, AWP also makes custom wood moldings. Its biggest challenge is the health of the housing market, Barringer said. “The housing market is our biggest driver,” he said. “As it grows, so do we.”

Despite stiff competition, Barringer has complete faith in his AWP team of employees and is looking forward to a “very strong” 2024, he said.

“We have the strongest sales team we’ve ever had,” Barringer said.

“This is not about me; it’s about the team, and the fact that we care about our customers and our employees.”
