Little Rock

DataPath CEO John Robbins Jr. believes the Affordable Care Act that so drastically changed the health care landscape in America has presented his company with both its biggest challenges and its greatest opportunities.

Founded by John Robbins Sr. in 1984, the Little Rock firm helps companies administer health care plans and insurance payments, including third-party administrators that service large- and medium-sized employers offering products including health savings accounts, health reimbursement arrangements, medical expense reimbursement plans, flexible spending accounts, dependent care assistance plans, transit accounts and benefit debit cards.

DataPath also targets TPAs that manage COBRA and direct and retiree billing. In addition, it links health care and workers’ compensation payments to the company’s proprietary debit card solutions through end-to-end provider payment processing for insurance companies.

Robbins said the emergence of public and private exchanges is changing the face of the industry, and he expects health care benefits offered by employers to change significantly due to the new law. Individuals and families on low-premium, high-deductible health plans with HSAs are predicted to double over the next three to five years, he said.

But DataPath will adapt, he believes, because of its employees and their flexibility. The last three years have seen 13, 14 and 28 percent revenue growth for DataPath.

“DataPath finds success through its employees and corporate culture,” he said. “DataPath’s culture is focused on helping clients succeed and employees learn, grow and perform their best work. The basis of this culture lies in the strong belief that everyone has something to contribute.”
