Little Rock

HDrop Technologies Inc. of Little Rock makes the first reusable, wearable hydration monitor that tracks sweat analytics in real time.

The $249 device is the brainchild of co-founder Adria Abella, a native of Spain who came to Arkansas to play tennis and earn a mechanical engineering degree at Harding University in Searcy.

Abella struggles to stay hydrated when playing tennis. Wearable hydration monitors are common but come in the form of disposable patches, which aren’t as practical for athletes who practice every day. “We sat down and we decided to create these wearable devices to track hydration and sweat rate and sweat metrics while being reusable,” he said, referring to co-founders Michael Cruz and Amine Mansouri.

Patented in multiple countries, the clip-on device with apps for iOS, Android and Garmin tracks sweat rate, sodium and potassium loss, movement intensity and temperature.

Customers include National Hockey League teams, USA Cycling and the Air Force. The company received $50,000 from Winrock International and the Delta iFund.
