Nabholz Construction Corp. began building a book of business 70 years ago underscored by happy customers that today account for 85% of its work coming from repeat clientele.
Founded in 1949 by Bob Nabholz, the company began as a homebuilding venture in Conway and over the years developed into one of the largest commercial construction companies in Arkansas.
These days, Nabholz ranks among the 120 largest general contractors in the nation with annual revenue topping $800 million and a workforce of nearly 1,200. In addition to five Arkansas locations, the company operates two offices each in Oklahoma, Missouri and Tennessee along with an office in Kansas, Mississippi and Connecticut.
Nabholz has established a resume of projects across the full spectrum of commercial categories with work on the world-class Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville as its most eye-catching.
“We can take care of so many customer needs because we are a heavy manpower company, with skilled craftsmen,” said Greg Williams, president of Nabholz Construction.
Started as a family-owned enterprise, Nabholz transitioned into an employee-owned firm with a headcount of 86 stockholders. The company has amassed a trophy case of state and national awards for quality, safety, employee health, sustainability and service work.
Established in 1987, the Nabholz Charitable Foundation has donated several million dollars to charities, community organizations, hospitals, schools and universities throughout its footprint. In addition, the company staff contributes thousands of hours and dollars each year.
“We’re proud of our people,” Williams said. “We have a fantastic team. Bob Nabholz established a legacy of giving back to the community and taking care of his employees and customers that we continue to build on.”
“The secret to company success is no secret,” the company says. “It’s committed to writing for all to see in the Nabholz purpose statement: Grow our people. Serve our clients. Build our communities.”
