Prairie Grove/Little Rock

In a market that saw sizable decreases in the dwindling economy, Bitworks Inc. stood tall, increasing its revenue by almost $1 million in 2001.

Bitworks Inc., an engineering and manufacturing company in Prairie Grove, introduced 10 new products during 2001, a move that Vice President Rudy Timmerman said helped the company stay above the economic decline.

With a customer base of 50 – including clients such as Diebold, which manufactures ATM machines, and Gil Barco, which manufactures gas pumps used throughout the United States – Timmerman said he expects the company to gross $3.75 million in 2002.

Timmerman attributes the success to the fact that company engineers are always gaining new knowledge and developing new technology.

“That makes us attractive to other companies,” Timmerman said. “During an economy where the electronic industry is going down, we’ve grown twofold.”

The fact that the company has such a wide base of clients also contributed to its rapid growth.

“All of our customers are spread over a wide range of industries,” he said. “So one industry having a bad year doesn’t affect our overall sales.”

The company is working on a wireless display for Gil Barco that will transmit full-color display advertisements to gas pumps throughout the United States.

Bitworks is also expanding by building a 6,000-SF addition that will double the size of its plant.
