A list of all of Aristotle Inc.’s philanthropic contributions would far exceed the space allotted to recognize the Little Rock Internet technology company for winning an Arkansas Community Foundation award for corporate philanthropy.

Since the Little Rock company was founded in 1995, Aristotle has focused its charity on the arts, education and “those who are less fortunate,” president and CEO Marla Johnson Norris said.

Naturally, Aristotle’s contributions are often tied to the Internet, like pro bono design, programming and development of Web sites; free Web hosting; and pro bono Internet training.

“We just believe in the Internet,” Norris said. “We know what a powerful tool it is to communicate and have been advocates in showing people how to use it.”

The Arkansas Museum of Discovery, the Arkansas Women’s Foundation, Riddle’s Elephant Sanctuary and The Rape Crisis Center are among the dozens of organizations that received free Web hosting.

Aristotle has also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of design work to organizations such as the Arkansas Civil War Buffs, the Arkansas Arts Center, the United Way of Pulaski County and the Blue Ribbon Commis-sion on Education.

Aristotle has assisted economic development around the state, such as creating Web sites for the city of Scott (Pulaski County) and the Little Rock Downtown Partnership.

Norris said, “Because of our commitment to Little Rock, anything that can help the Little Rock area grow and be a more creative and wonderful place for all people to live will in time be a recipient of work we do.”

Along with all the Internet work, the company has also made thousands of dollars in contributions to local nonprofit groups. The company also encourages volunteer work, and a handful of Aristotle employees serve on the boards of local nonprofits.
