JPMS Cox PLLC

JPMS Cox PLLC

2008 // Arkansas Community Foundation's Outstanding Philanthropic Corporations

For the partners at JPMS Cox PLLC of Little Rock, giving back to the community is a top priority.

“We feel like that’s an important thing to do, to be a part of giving to people that are less fortunate than you,” said the accounting and consulting firm’s managing partner, Jim Phillips. “And our people really enjoy it.”

For years, JPMS Cox has been donating staff time and money to various causes.
“A big part of our practice is in the not-for-profit realm,” Phillips said. “So
we have some first-hand experience of what they do.”

The company’s charitable contributions committee decides where to direct
the company’s donations, which range from about $30,000 to $35,000 annually, he said.

JPMS Cox also will shut its doors and have the staff of 58 people volunteer.
For one service day project, the staff descended on Seventh Street Elementary School in North Little Rock. “We painted and cleaned up and planted flowers,” Phillips said.

In addition, the firm works with Junior Achievement of Arkansas to teach students about business and economics.

The company’s employees also have pitched in to build a home for Habitat for Humanity. “Everybody is invited [to volunteer], but it’s not required,” Phillips said. Still, about 25 of the company’s workers donated a Saturday to help build a home.

The employees have worked with City Year of Little Rock/North Little Rock to improve the Sherman Park Community Center in North Little Rock and repaired playground equipment and basketball courts.

The company also arranges for blood drives several times a year with the American Red Cross.

In 2008, JPMS Cox won the Arkansas Society of CPA s Public Service Award.

Phillips said the company’s charitable works would continue.
