Rainwater Holt & Sexton

In 2006, three partners started the Little Rock law firm Rainwater Holt & Sexton, watching it grow to become the largest personal injury firm in Arkansas.

Mike Rainwater, Stephen Holt and Bob Sexton formed the firm for Arkansans who need legal help with issues such as personal injury, bankruptcy, Social Security disability claims and workers’ compensation. Holt died in 2014.

The firm has expanded to 135 employees, with 27 attorneys, and offices in Little Rock, Conway, Hot Springs and Fayetteville.

Rainwater said its people made the firm successful. “We are very lucky to have a great team of attorneys and staff that help us grow each year,” Rainwater said.

The firm also focuses on providing excellent customer service. “We go to great lengths to treat all our clients with the utmost respect,” he said. “We realize they are in tough times, and we just want to help get them back to a state of normalcy.”

Rainwater said the firm is data-driven and relies on data “for everything. … It forces us to constantly watch the business and grow at a healthy rate while not outgrowing our capabilities.”

The firm doesn’t release revenue figures. It handled around 4,800 cases in 2017, and 5,100 in 2018.

Away from the courtroom, the firm is focused on giving back to the community. The firm partners with KATV, Channel 7, in Little Rock for the Spirit of Arkansas Award that goes to nonprofit organizations. Rainwater Holt & Sexton also works with KARK, Channel 4, and its sister station, KLRT, known as Fox 16, to highlight a Victory Over Violence Difference Maker. Each month, the law firm awards $1,000 to an organization fighting violence.

In addition, the firm’s employees vote every month on a different charity to support.

The firm also supports the Arkansas chapters of the ALS Association and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
